Yankee Robotics manufactures the Trifid camera. They have the ability to drive a wide range of Kodak scientific CCD sensors with their camera electronics and are willing to integrate one that YOU own! Visit http://www.yankeerobotics.com for much more information!

This concept is not a very common practice. Because of their good will and excellent support, I have been able to begin evaluating a small quantity of large format CCD imagers. I have become an authorized Yankee Robotics Trifid camera reseller. My intent is to provide the amateur astronomy community with at least a few lower cost, large format astrocams. That is, at least until I run out of sensors. (click here to see the available sensors below)

These are not the latest and greatest sensors with microlens technology and exceptional QE. They are the sensors you remember from about 1-2 years ago. They are MUCH larger in area than the sensors in the current selection of cameras within the same price range. One has to equate cost versus integration time and camera features when reviewing the potential camera alternative offered here via the Trifid.

Please note that Yankee Robotics sells the latest brand new Kodak sensors to be used with their cameras, if you are not interested in a surplus sensor. If you are interested in any variants of the ST-7, ST-8, ST-9, ST-10, SBIG Research 6303E or the Single Shot Color cameras from SBIG, check with Yankee Robotics FIRST. Their prices are competitive, they use the same sensors as SBIG, and the capabilities of the Trifid are comparable, and in some cases, better than those of SBIG.

All sensors I sell within a Trifid camera are guaranteed for one year (Just like Kodak). If they fail within a year (and not by your hand) then I will have the sensor replaced with an equivalent sensor of my choosing, or I will issue you a full refund for the price of the sensor only (not the complete camera). Note that opening the cold chamber of your Trifid camera voids all guarantees and warranties COMPLETELY.
